26.02.2024

Excellent news, Manresa House has been shortlisted for a RIBA Award in the West Midlands region.

A RIBA Regional Award is given to a UK project for its regional importance as a piece of architecture. Successful projects should demonstrate design excellence, be fit for purpose and be sustainable.

Working with The Society of Jesus, otherwise known as the Jesuits, OMI Architects have altered and extend an existing novitiate in Harborne, Birmingham.

Reflecting traditional monastic arrangements, the building consists of a series of wings radiating out from a retained nineteenth century house.  These wings act as a frame for the external landscaped areas and contain 24 bedrooms for guests, novices and senior community as well as dining room, kitchen, offices, meeting rooms, library and a new chapel.

Committed to long-term sustainability, the building optimises thermal performance as well as utilising renewables, ensuring the long-term presence of the community.
