Murray House is a supported housing scheme for adults with learning disabilities in Warwickshire. The building is comprised of 9 self-contained 1-bed apartments that are arranged around a communal lounge and top-lit atrium.

The communal lounge and atrium provide a light-filled, social heart to the scheme, and opens onto a south facing courtyard garden. This space fosters a real sense of community, animated by the day-to-day movements and activities of the residents.

The key intention is to provide an inviting, ‘non-institutional’ environment for residents to wander at leisure as they walk between their living accommodation and shared spaces. In a further move away from institutional buildings, communal spaces and circulation routes are always visually connected to the outside, promoting a sense of health and wellbeing where residents, carers and members of staff feel valued.
